Silver Alloy Cruiser Bike Riser Quill Stem - 13/16" or 21.1mm post Schwinn 1966 - 1980 New Silver Alloy Riser Quill Stem for Vintage Schwinn and Other Vintage Bikes from 1966 to 1980. This Stem is for 1" center handle bars, that is handlebars with the 1" Bulge in the center. This Silver Stem has a 13/16" or 21.1mm post fitting a fork and top nut with that opening. The Sizes are in relation to the the size of the opening of your top nut and fork tube, the stem post diameter will have to slide in to opening snugly. On Vintage Schwinn's: the 7/8" also 22.2mm ( Bigger size ) was used from the early 1900's to 1965, The ( smaller size ) 13/16" also 21.1mm was used on Schwinn's from 1966 till the 1980's. The 13/16" or 21.1mm size stem was made smaller so the fork tube could be thicker and stronger. Always Measure to Be sure. Stem has approximately 95mm forward extension and 40mm of rise, There is a lip on stem and the stem will not insert over the lip and at that point there is approximately 80mm of rise, I say this because you cannot achieve a low profile look with this stem , but should you need rise its all good. The Lip may go all the way around or may only be partially on one side, seems to come both ways from the Factory. Stem weighs approximately 515 grams.
