Ex-WTB-sponsored racer, Cadel Evans, rocking the SST saddle in 1997. Evans is currently leading le Tour de France. WTB is proud to announce that the SST saddle--with its trademark drop-nose design--is coming back. The SST will be available in two versions, the $140 SST Team and the $60 SST Race. Although the new SST will feature some modern refinements, it will retain the same contoured nose and comfortable padding. WTB's complete 2009 product line, including the SST and several other innovative new components, will be available this fall SST devotees can finally stop scouring the pages of eBay for their beloved saddles as WTB will bring back the classic shape for 2009. While not exactly the same as it was when it was discontinued in 2003, the new version is a near carbon copy. There’s the same broad and flat rear, that telltale dropped nose, the Comfort Zone blind cutaway up front and not a sharp edge in sight. Lightweight DNA foam padding is used throughout but the nose now sports much more padding than it used to. Top-end Team versions will weigh 240g (claimed) with titanium rails and a real leather cover while the cromoly-railed Race edition will add another 95g. Back by popular demand after a six year hiatus! The distinctive drop-nose design gives riders much more freedom of movement to the tip of the nose on steep climbs, for example and greatly decreases the chance of snagging baggy shorts while manoeuvring rough singletrack. Flex-Tuned Shell: The Flex-Tuned shell boasts an exceptional mix of comfortable flex and firm efficiency. Not as supple as the Soft-Shell and not as stiff as the Carbon Composite, Flex-Tuned saddles provide the happy medium that is ideal for most enthusiasts. DNA Padding: Found on all of our high-end models, this dense padding dramatically reduces the weight of the saddle. DNA padding also features superior memory properties, which conforms to your individual anatomy.
