Vintage Tange 1” Threaded Headset Sealed Bearings 90s Road Bike Japan

Both cups that fit into the headset have an external diameter of 30.2 mm. The crown races internal diameter is 26.4 mm. The threads are dirty, but in good working condition on the headset. Both of the bearings feel a bit greedy with one bearing worse than the other. Buyer may need to replace/repack/grease the bearings for the item to function more smoothly. There is some scratches on the lower cup that may prevent the item from functioning 100% smoothly. Please see pictures for condition of the item. Naturally every bike is different so there can be slight differences. Start by installing the bike into a workshop stand and prepare the tools required. You will need Allan keys, Paper towel, Degreaser and grease 9. Take the new bearings, apply a little gease and place on the crown race of the fork. The bearings have a chamfer on both side, the side it the chamfer on the outside is the side that fits into the frame or the headset cup 13. Return the top cap and tighten the bolt until it takes up the slack. Its really easy to over tighten this bolt so ensure you give it minimal force or you can damage the bearings.
