DT Swiss Alpine III spokes use special construction techniques and materials to create a spoke that can withstand the drivetrain torque and weight of heavy bicycles and e-bikes. Highly corrosion resistant 18/10 stainless steel is cold-forged into a triple butted spoke profile that reinforces the spoke elbow and the threaded end which are common failure points in traditional j-bend style spokes, while reducing the thickness in the middle of the spoke to reduce the weight; as a side benefit, this thinner middle section also will produce a smoother riding wheel.
