. This shifter allows you to set up your bike to shift both front and rear gears with one shifter. Made to work on a 3x9 9 speed drivetrain It gives to 11 gear combinations across the whole range of gears. Basically starting from the small cog you would have 2 shifts( 3 gears) on the rear and the 3rd shift will shift the front derailleur from small ring to middle ring without shifting the rear derailleur. Then 3 more shift clicks shifts shifts 3 gears in the back the 7th shift click shifts the front derailleur to the large ring then the last 3 shift clicks shifts the last 3 gears one the rear.
